PAT Testing
Portable Appliance
Testing is a requirement covered by the Electricity at Work
Regulations 1989. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1992, and
the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
WHAT IS PAT
TESTING?
PAT Testing is to
portable electrical equipment what the MOT is to your car. The test
is carried out by a qualified PAT Test Engineer at your premises.
WHAT NEEDS PAT
TESTING?

Any portable electrical
item that plugs into the mains.

For Schools,
Pubs, Clubs, Offices and Shops
it would be things like Computers, Fax Machines, Printers, Radio,
Kettle, Till, TV, CCTV Systems, Microwave, etc.

For bands and mobile
DJs it
would be things like Decks, Amps, Mixers, Powered Speakers, IEC
Leads, Lighting Effect, Extension Lead, Radio Mics, Keyboards,
etc.

For OAP Homes,
Private Lets
it would be things
like Kettle, TV, Sky TV box, Toaster, Microwave, Fridge,
Lamps, Washer, Dryer, Hoover, Iron, etc.

Mobile Therapists
and Hairdressers
it would be Curling Tongues, Straighteners, Hair Dryers, Foot
Spar, Heat Lamps, etc.
THE TEST
Is a combined Test of
your portable electrical appliances by a qualified PAT Test
Engineer. Labelling of all
inspected and tested appliances and a PAT Test Certificate
listing the tested appliances.
